Service Practicums & Urban Hike

We believe God desires us to share his heart for the world, so a component of all our programs includes service. Students volunteer within the local community doing service practicums, and travel in teams to spend a week with inner-city organizations.

Urban Hike

Urban Hike is about connecting with God’s heart for the marginalized. Every fall the student body is divided into groups who travel to major city centres to spend time learning about and working with inner-city organizations. In the past we’ve traveled to Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver. Students are given opportunities to minister, serve, and connect with the marginalized.

Service Practicum

The ministry practicum component of our programs calls upon students to use the skills they’ve been learning in class and developed areas of special interest to serve others in the community around them. Students receive credit for being on a ministry practicum team for the duration of the year, where they have the opportunity to share God’s love with the community around them through ministries like kid’s clubs, youth ministry, elderly visitation and involvement in Special Olympics. This rewarding part of our program challenges students to step outside of their comfort zone and put faith into action.
